This project started after seeing the Tarmo5 RC car built by EngineeringNonsense. I got interested in modeling and printing out my own version of an RC car.
I modeled all 3D printed parts of the car in Solidworks. Most parts were printed out in PLA with a few select parts printed out in TPU for more flexibility.
You can check out a full description of how I put together the car here. This page has the BOMs for both printed and non-printed parts. The repository also contains all of the STL files so that you could print your own version.
Wiring Setup:
The RC car has a simple wiring Diagram with only 5 components. The lipo battery can connect directly to the ESC. The motor wires can connect to the other side of the ESC (If the motor spins the wrong direction, swap two of these wires). The ESC has built in BEC that can be used to power the receiver directly. I plugged the drive motor ESC into channel 3 and the steering servo into channel 1.
The receiver channels are easily configurable on the transmitter so that you can chose which sticks control each movement and direction.
